The DC Extended Universe may currently consist of pretty dark, morbid fare (even Suicide Squad, while relatively lighthearted was a pretty dark flick), but on the TV front, The CW seems to having a ball with all these different superheroes. While Arrow is still a healthy blend of darker bits, all the other franchises are more than happy to poke fun at themselves, and at the tropes they are a part of.

A couple seasons back, we saw a crossover between The Flash and Supergirl, two of the brighter superheroes of the CW’s Arrow-verse, and it was just about as bubbly as you imagine. In fact, it was probably medically possible for someone to get put into a sugar coma from how that crossover turned out. But the folks over at the CW decided to up the ante for this crossover. It wasn’t enough to just have The Flash and Supergirl interact. No, they had to sing.

Taking advantage of a villain called the Music Meister, the writers saw an opportunity to make a musical episode that took advantage of stars Grant Gustin and Melisa Benoist’s vocal talents. After a solid year of us waiting on this, we now have a trailer for the episode.

Take a look below!

In this special musical crossover episode, Barry and Kara find themselves trapped in a movie musical. They are instructed to “follow the script,” but they have to be careful, because if they die in this world, they’ll die in the real world as well.

If you’re a fan of the more lighthearted moments in the CW shows, this will likely be right up your alley. If you’ve been wanting them to get a bit more serious and less campy in later seasons, then this won’t necessarily be up your alley. As silly as it is, however, we appreciate that these shows are willing to go to ridiculous places and just have fun with the overall concept. We’re excited to see how this experiment of theirs turns out.

The Flash episode “The Duet” airs next Tuesday at 8/7c on The CW!
