The Flash: Why Tom Felton’s Character Is Gone, According To The Show

Last year’s season of The Flash may not have been everything it was cracked up to be. Barry was a bit annoying, Killer Frost was overly-dramatic, and on the whole, things took itself maybe a tad too seriously?

However, one character I really enjoyed was Tom Felton’s grumpy Julian. The character started off as Barry’s perpetually digruntled co-worker, and went from bad guy to good guy. His arcs was definitely one of the more rewarding ones of the season, and I looked forward to seeing if The Flash would be able to lock him down as a series regular.

Sadly, earlier this year, it was confirmed that Felton would not be returning this season, and the reason mentioned in the show’s first episode was that he moved back to London. That’s right. The character just moved back to London.

If you’re sensing a bit of annoyance, it’s because I am annoyed. I very much liked the dynamic of the character, and based on this explanation, it just sounds to me like the writers either couldn’t find a place for the character, or that the network couldn’t lock down a deal, which is a shame.

That being said, one potential ray of light here is that with that explanation, Julian can pretty much come back whenever, and who knows? Maybe someday he could come back on in a more regular capacity. Hopefully.
