The Guardians Of The Galaxy Get The ’80s Sitcom Treatment In New TV Spot

The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise has been all about ’80s nostalgia. Peter Quill aka Star-Lord was taken from Earth in 1988, with his Walkman full of classic tracks that make up Awesome Mix Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, and his head full of ’80s Earth pop culture references. The first film also had a very ’80s feel with its obvious inspiration from the original Star Wars films. 

Marvel has now embraced this nostalgia in another franchise, as the teaser trailer for Thor: Ragnarok had an even clearer ’80s vibe than the trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. But now, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 strikes back with a new TV Spot that incorporates the feel of an ’80s sitcom!

Not a whole lot of new footage here, but with that laugh track and those title cards, the Guardians franchise wants us to know that it’s still all about the ’80s. Your move, Thor.
