The Undertaker made his return for the historic 900th episode of Smackdown and boy did he make an impact. When Team Smackdown, the five Superstars who will be competing this Sunday against the five Superstars from Team Raw, were on The Cutting Edge with returning star Edge, the legendary Deadman made his return to the show.
What's newsworthy about the return is a couple things. First of all, he stated that "...Wrestlemania will no longer define who I am." With reports earlier in the year that The Undertaker needed crutches to get around, being involved in the highly physical matches he'd been having at Wrestlemania the past decade is probably not the smartest thing to do for his long term health. Pro wrestling takes a horrible toll on the body. Anyone becoming a wrestler knows this. It's nice to see that he may be putting the brakes on the types of matches that have cemented his career as one of the best ever.
But he wasn't done. "There's no reason to fear failure. But if you fail, you'll have reason to fear the Deadman. Team Raw better Rest in Peace."
I remember watching his debut at the Survivor Series in 1990. While I had no clue the type of run he would end up having, The Undertaker took my breath away and continues to do so till this day. To hear he's still going to be involved in the WWE in some fashion makes me happy.
