THE WALKING DEAD: Jeffrey Dean Morgan Says Fans Will Wish The Season 6 Cliffhanger Never Ended

Season 6 had a brutal cliffhanger for fans. Newcomer to the series, Negan — played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan — had our leads tied up and at his mercy as he paced side to side with a barbwire-laced baseball bat.

“Anybody moves, anybody says anything, cut the boy’s other eye out and feed it to his father, and then we’ll start. You can breathe, you can blink, you can cry. Hell, you’re all gonna be doing that,” he said before bringing the bat down on an unknown victim from their perspective The camera fell to the side and cut to black, and just like that, AMC managed to piss off a legion of loyal Walking Dead fans.

Some went so far as to start a petition urging AMC to reveal who the victim was — defeating the entire purpose of a cliffhanger in the first place. Months have passed, and we’re only about two months left from discovering just who fell victim to his bat, and now actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan is arguing that once we find out, we’ll wish we didn’t.

At the recent convention, Morgan said the following:

“I can’t stress enough that if you were one of those people who were like, ‘Oh, f***ing cliffhanger…’ You’re gonna be really, really wishing that the cliffhanger had never ended after the first episode back. So, be careful what you wish for.”

I’m sure that comment alone will give fans plenty to contemplate and chew on. This only increases intrigue and curiosity as to who met their end last season. Many had called the cliffhanger a cop-out, and some even accused the writers of not knowing who they’d wanted to kill off. While they could very well have been right, the fact remains that once this new season starts, the show will have to reveal who died, so at the end of the day it’s hardly a cop-out.

Morgan went on talk talk about how much fun he’s having being in villain mode, and then reveal that they are currently about midway through shooting Season 7.

Who do you think died at the end of Season 6? Are you looking forward to seeing the grand reveal in the first episode of Season 7, or are you dreading the thought of knowing who it could be? Let us know your thoughts down below!
