Ever since Hugh Jackman first announced that THE WOLVERINE III would mark his last outing as the iconic X-MEN character, fans have been hopeful that the studio would work to adapt the graphic novel OLD MAN LOGAN.
The story, which was written by Mark Millar, follows aging Logan in a post-apocalyptic setting. When offered a great sum of money to escort a blind Hawkeye from California to New York, the road trip of dark proportions begins. It's an incredibly morbid tale, and it's one that fans have hoped would serve as Hugh Jackman's last hurrah to the franchise.
Well, we may have had our first indication of what's to come. In a recent interview with CinemaBlend, X-MEN series producer Simon Kinberg revealed that THE WOLVERINE III is set in the future.
Now, we obviously can't get carried away with this piece of news. "The future" is very vague, and for all we know, it can take place five seconds after the future events of DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. This does, however, give just the slightest glimmer of hope that at least some aspects could be inspired by the beloved graphic novel.
Do you think THE WOLVERINE III should adapt OLD MAN LOGAN? If not, what Wolverine-centric story can you see them adapting that would take place in the future?

THE WOLVERINE III hits theaters on March 3, 2017.
