At this point, we still know next to nothing about Hugh Jackman's last outing as the Wolverine. Sure, we know that the filmmakers may be shooting for an R, and that shooting begins really soon, but as far as the plot goes, we don't anything. We desperately want to believe that the film will adapt the OLD MAN LOGAN graphic novel, but we've had no official confirmation regarding that just yet.
But that hasn't stopped some outlets from speculating, and outlets trying to finagle any info they can about the adaptation. The latest of that comes from MTV, who spoke with Liev Shreiber, who played Wolverine's oldest foe, Sabretooth in 2009's much-maligned X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE. Can we expect Shreiber to return to the character in THE WOLVERINE III? This is what the actor had to say to MTV on the red carpet of the Oscars last night.
“[Hugh Jackman and I] talked about it. I don’t know. He’s mentioned it to me. The OLD MAN LOGAN story — that’s appealing. That’s something that I can do. Old, being the operative word.”
So what can we take from this? Chances are, absolutely nothing. I'm not usually one to be negative regarding comments like these, but the actor clearly hasn't been approached lately, and it doesn't look like there has been anything apart from passing mentions from Jackman. So no, this isn't a confirmation of the OLD MAN LOGAN storyline, nor is it a confirmation that we should be expecting to see Sabretooth in the film.
What do you think of Shreiber's comments? Would you like to see him return to the franchise, and do you think Fox will go forward with the OLD MAN LOGAN story? Let us know your thoughts down below!
