Thor: Ragnarok – Fans Mad There May Be Humor? Seriously?

I just discovered a few interesting tweets on Taika Waititi’s (director of upcoming Thor film) twitter (@TaikaWaititi), where some people are b**ching that, god forbid, Thor: Ragnarok may have some humor involved in it. One fan expressed as much Waititi himself.

Surprisingly enough, Waititi saw the tweet, and even went so far as to respond in a hilarious way:

The main two questions that must be asked here is, “Who was greatly impressed with either of the Thor movies,” and “Who loved Guardians of the Galaxy?” I would answer by rating the movies with a 1 and 1000 for Thor and GotG, respectively. I seriously doubt that Thor or Hulk will be hilarious for the entire movie, and much like Guardians — my guess is that towards the end, it will get very serious with maybe some dark humor thrown in just for the director’s signature move.

Potentially, Thor may be one of the funniest characters at Marvel, as he simply has no idea about technology and the “modern way of things.” If you have not seen this, watch now:

Hell, I’d rather watch Thor and Darryl over Ragnarok any day of the week.

Let’s remember that not only did Taika Waititi direct the above video, but he also directed a few episodes of Flight of the Conchords. As such, this humor will not be like Old School‘s Will Ferrell “running through the gymnasium and the quads” naked. I have a feeling it will be very subtle, much like in the aforementioned Guardians of the Galaxy, and I am for sure going to to give this a chance.

Taika Waititi could probably flush his toilet, and the leftovers would be more compelling than Thor: The Dark World.

Thor: Ragnarok will star Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange, Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, Keith Urban as Skurge, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Jamie Alexander as Sif, Ray Stevenson as Volstagg — and hmmmm Sam Neil.

The film will drop November 3, 2017.

What do you guys think? Do you want a hardcore Planet Hulk type of movie, or more of a Guardians of the Galaxy feel?
