Tom Holland Discusses Two Characters He Would Like To See In Future Spider-Man Films

Yes, there is even more Spider-Man news to be had this morning, as Press Junkets and interviews intensify the closer we get to July 7, the release date of Spider-Man: Homecoming. It has already been reported that the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming will feature another Marvel Cinematic Universe character, as Homecoming features Tony Stark / Iron Man, but who will it be? Deadpool is off the table due to his being owned by Fox, though the Spider-Man / Deadpool comic is among the best titles out there, and such a big screen team-up would be perfect. So, who would fit in best with ole’ Webhead?

Tom Holland has his choice, and it’s another bug inspired Avenger. Holland was asked by Screen Rant who he would most want the chance to work with in the sequel to Homecoming. His response?

“Ant-Man would be my favorite. I want to have like a bug bros session. I think it’d be really cool.”

I’m not sure how pleased Ant-Man would be to hang out with a teenager, after said teenager webbed up his Giant-Man legs like an AT-AT on Hoth, but hopefully this relationship will be repaired in Avengers: Infinity War when they have to fight that big purple dude. You know, the mad titan Thanos!

Screen Rant also asked Holland if he would like to see Peter Parker mentor the next Spider-Man, Miles Morales, just as Tony Stark mentors him in Homecoming:

“That would be something that I would be very up for doing, it’s something that I would really really hope to happen. I think Miles Morales is a great character, I think it would be fantastic to have an actor of color playing a superhero on screen, and I just think it’s going to be something very cool and something very exciting for this universe.”

Though this would have to happen pretty far down the line, as Holland hopes to play Spider-Man for at least a trilogy, it sounds rather unlikely. Sony’s animated Spider-Man film that they are developing focuses on Morales, and it would be unlike Sony to share too much of a good thing with Marvel Studios. We don’t even know if there are Spider-Man MCU plans past the sequel to Homecoming!

Which Avenger would you like to most see appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming 2? Is Ant-Man the right choice? Let us know in the comments below!

Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters on July 7, 2017.
