Toni Collette Joins XXX: THE RETURN OF XANDER CAGE

Who knew we’d be getting so much Xander Cage so fast? After the disappointment that was XXX: STATE OF THE UNION back in 2005, the franchise went back into hiding for a good decade or so. When actor Vin Diesel returned to the FAST AND FURIOUS franchise, there were endless rumbles that he would eventually make his way back to the other action flick he was best known for.

After announcing the film back in January of 2014, news on the picture went radio silent, and now it seems like we get extra tidbits and casting news every other week. In the latest in the string of casting news, THR is reporting that Toni Collette has joined this growing cast, and that she will be playing a “bureaucrat in the intelligence service.”

Collette may not be the most recognizable of actresses, but she definitely has had her fair share of roles. She played the character of Lynn in M. Night Shyamalan’s THE SIXTH SENSE, as well as Sheryl in LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE. No doubt she will be a great asset in this film, which is actually getting more exciting to me everyday.

In addition to Collette, the film is set to star Samuel L. Jackson, Jet Li, Tony Jaa, ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK’s Ruby Rose, and MMA Fighter Conor McGregor. Though despite the frequent casting updates, what the plot of the film is is still something that’s largely under wraps. THR does mention that insiders are saying it’s a movie about “two teams of badasses that go head-to-head.”

Sounds pretty cool to me. While I couldn’t have cared less about this movie six months ago, slowly but surely, I’m finding myself drawn in by the prospect of seeing all these characters have at each other. What do you think? Does the casting of Collette have you excited to see the film? Let us know in the comments down below.
