Now that Straight Outta Compton has shown that there’s a big audience out there for serious biopics about hip hop titans, the stage has been set for a film about a figure whose tumultuous life and untimely death casts- perhaps- a shadow even larger than the N.W.A.’s. All Eyez On Me, about the late rap legend Tupac Shakur, is on the way. The production has just released a brand new trailer for the film, and I am happy to share it with you today.
Here’s the NSFW red band trailer for All Eyez On Me:
I mentioned Straight Outta Compton earlier because that film came seemingly from nowhere last year, and the $28 million earned a stellar $201 million. But even better than that, it was taken seriously by critics, and seen as a serious contender for Oscar glory. Suddenly, the industry has started paying attention to what these films could be, if given a chance and the right talent.
All Eyez On Me stars Demetrius Shipp Jr. as Tupac, and the unknown actor seems to be bringing it with an impassioned performance.
As of now, All Eyez On Me doesn’t have a release date. Similar to Shakur’s actual life, the film has had its fair share of legal issues and controversy, which all led to delays, directors departing, and more. But it’s looking like it’s finally going to see the light of day, and hopefully soon.
