Wesley Snipes Talks ‘Blade,’ Hints At Return To Marvel

A few weeks back, murmurs started to make their way around the web that Marvel could be trying to find a way to work the Blade films into its continuity- namely by bringing Wesley Snipes back as as the half-vampire. The initial Blade trilogy was a moderate hit, and Snipes was inspired casting for the character, so some have wondered if a return could happen. In a chat with Comic Book Resources, the 52 year old action star talks a little about about what may, or may not, be happening on that front:

“Well, we’ve had some discussions. We have had very positive and favorable discussions about the Blade character and other things they have in mind. We’ll see where it goes. For those Blade fans, if we never reprise Blade, I have another character that will stand toe to toe with Blade any day. It’s not done yet.”

This doesn’t sound to me like a return for Snipes as Blade. This sounds like, perhaps, Marvel wants to re-introduce the character into its Universe (be it in a film, or in one of its Netflix series), and have maybe asked Snipes to make a cameo in it for the sake of fan service. But what seems more likely is that they may have an all new role in mind for Snipes in the MCU.

What do you think?
