When Toy Story 4 was announced, some were perplexed. The beloved series seemingly ended on a high note with the third film- a film which was very much treated like a finale. So with a new film on the way, some are probably wondering: Where do we go from here? Why are we doing this?
Director John Lasseter says the new film is set to explore new ground, and will have a plot that he describes as “a love story.” Between whom? Woody and Bo Peep, of course!
He then goes on to reassure plans that Disney/Pixar have only the most noble of intentions with this sequel:
“At Pixar and at Disney, we only make sequels if we come up with a story that’s as good or better than the original. That’s our rule. We don’t do things just to print money.”
He also points out this is a big year for Pixar. With Inside Out in theaters and The Good Dinosaur coming out on November 25, this marks the first time there’s ever been two original releases from the studio in the same year.
