Though Phase 4 has yet to be announced, the Marvel Cinematic Universe still has quite a few release dates on its schedule. This year we will have the treat of watching Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in May, Spider-Man: Homecoming in July, and Thor: Ragnarok in November. Next year will see the release of Black Panther in February, Avengers: Infinity War in May, and Ant-Man and the Wasp in July. Finally, in 2019 we get Captain Marvel and Avengers 4. And that will wrap up Phase 3. Who knows what lies ahead in the yet to be announced Phase 4? (Kevin Feige knows. Kevin Feige always knows…)
Now that we’ve seen a trailer for Thor: Ragnarok, the next trailer to expect is Black Panther, which wraps production shortly. Let the speculation begin on when we see a trailer!… Wait… Marvel Studios already told us? What’s the deal?
IGN reports from their visit to Marvel Studios’ office that the teaser trailer for Black Panther will drop this summer, likely at Disney’s D23 Expo and/or San Diego Comic-Con. Black Panther is directed by Ryan Cooglar (Creed), with Chadwick Boseman back in the role following Captain America: Civil War.
Unlike DC, who releases all their Comic-Con trailers online the same time they premiere them to avoid them leaking, Marvel likes to premiere their trailers in venues like D23 Expo and hold off on releasing them to the public. I would have guessed the public wouldn’t be seeing a Black Panther trailer until November on Thor: Ragnarok, but as long as Disney doesn’t get too greedy, it looks like we may be seeing it on Spider-Man: Homecoming instead! Hopefully.
Black Panther has a release date of February 16, 2018.
