Why Tim Miller Got the ‘DEADPOOL’ Directing Gig

DEADPOOL may be Tim Miller’s first foray into the feature directing world, but make no mistake, this guy is no rank amateur. In 1995 he co-founded Blue Studios, a visual effects studio that’s done all sorts of work for Hollywood, including the “Heaven and Hell” sequence in the SOUTH PARK movie, the opening credits of the American version of THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, and countless others beyond my limited knowledge.

Apparently, Miller also directed this 2010 cinematic trailer for DC UNIVERSE ONLINE. According to GeekTyrant, it was this video that impressed the studio execs over at Fox, thereby securing MIller’s job as director of DEADPOOL

In the clip, you can definitely see some visual flair that Miller was able to bring to the DEADPOOL movie. Sure the film didn’t have the budget of a lot of big action movies these days, but all the same, the action itself was pretty well implemented.

This wasn’t the only impressive cinematic Miller’s directed. Last year, he also directed this TV spot for the game BATMAN: ARKHAM ORIGINS.

It’s an emotional little bit that shows that Miller is capable of getting some serious emotion across on the screen, and it’s that aspect of of the DEADPOOL movie that makes it much more than empty calories when watching.
