Will Harley Quinn Be Featured On Gotham? Showrunner Gives Us The Answer

This year Harley Quinn turned 25. The character that debuted as a sidekick for The Joker on Batman: The Animated Series, has become one of the most popular character in the DC Universe. Besides the animated series she has also been featured in Warner Bros. Pictures film Suicide Squad where she was brilliantly played by Margot Robbie, as well as a her fan favorite bi-monthly comic book by Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti at DC Comics. With that said it had been rumored for a while that she may also be making her debut on Fox’s Gotham soon.

Many fans have picked Erin Richards’ character Barbara Keane as the favorite to become Harley Quinn. Even David Mazouz, who plays Bruce Wayne, had stated that Harley was headed to Gotham during an interview last season. But showrunner for Gotham John Stephens addressed the those rumors during an interview with CBR while discussing Season 4’s premiere and for those excited to see Harley Quinn, you will be very disappointed.

“Let’s put it out there. The discussions we’ve been having is – Look, we know Harley Quinn is never going to be on our show.” Stephens said.

This should not be a surprise as he had already made this clear during San Diego Comic-Con this year where he stated that “We’ll see a Harley Quinn-esque character (…)But we’re never going to see Harley Quinn. Sorry about that.” With so many things going on in Gotham I wouldn’t be surprised if somewhere down the line she is added to the show, maybe that “Quinn-esque” character Stephens talked about ended up as Harley to save ratings if necessary in the future.

With the fourth season of Gotham underway, it will be interesting to see how the plot and characters progress, maybe allowing or completely shutting the door for a Harley Quinn in the future. What are your thoughts? Do you want to see Harley on Gotham? Chime in below!
