Will Miles Morales Appear In The Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Minor SPOILERS ahead for Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is less than two weeks away, and with it comes the new, younger Peter Parker / Spider-Man that we met in Captain America: Civil War, played by Tom Holland. Holland is set to appear in Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers 4, and the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, but eventually, there will be another. In the Ultimate Spider-Man comic line, Morales takes over the duties of Spider-Man following the death of Peter Parker. He is endued with spider-powers, including a few Peter never had, after his uncle robs Oscorp and a super-spider stows away in his bag. So, will we ever see Miles Morales join the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Remember those minor Spoilers I warned you about? Apparently, Donald Glover plays Miles Morales’ uncle in Homecoming, and makes reference to said nephew. Screen Crush asked Marvel StudiosPresident, Kevin Feige, if this moment was simply an Easter Egg, or if there are plans to include Miles in future films as the successor to Peter Parker:

All of those little things are just Easter Eggs for fans until they’re something more than that. But anything that’s happened in the books is potential material for us. In the meantime, I think Miles is a big part of the animated movie that Sony’s making. But where we go … we definitely want you to go “He’s there. He’s there somewhere.”

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is full of Easter Eggs like this; references to characters we will never see, and the inclusion of characters that we may never witness become their superhero, or supervillain, alter-egos. This is a fantastic inclusion none-the-less, but with the fate of Spider-Man in the MCU in question past Spider-Man: Homecoming 2, it does seem like a long shot, especially with Sony’s animated Spider-Man movie Feige referenced, featuring Miles.

Would you want to see Miles Morales take Peter’s place in say, ten years? Or do you prefer the original and hope they reboot Peter Parker for an eternity? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below!

Spider-Man: Homecoming crawls onto the silver screen on July 7, 2017.
