‘You Are Going To Love Colossus’ In ‘Deadpool,’ According To Liefeld

Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld took some time to speak to fans at Amazing Hawaii Comic-Con over the weekend, and in that talk he shared some of his thoughts on the upcoming film based on the character. Firstly, he likened what the writers for the film have done to distilling 20 years of Deadpool lore into one “fantastic” two hour movie. He also revealed that the film’s plot won’t be mirroring any particular story from the books, but will still embody everything we love about the character. Liefeld also shed some light on the involvement of Colussus in the Ryan Reynolds-led film.

Here’s the video of his comments:

Did you catch that? “He’s in it a good amount,” Liefeld says. This means we’ll likely get to know and experience the character more than we have in his previous appearances in films like X2: X-Men UnitedX-Men: The Last Stand, and X-Men: Days of Future Past. In anticipation of this expanded role, the character was recast. While Daniel Cudmore played the role in those aforementioned films, Andre Tricoteux is now assuming the part.

It sure sounds like Liefeld has boarded the hype train for Deadpool, and he joins a legion of Deadpool fans that can’t wait to see what Reynolds, along with director Tim Miller, have cooked up for this faithful take on the character.

Deadpool will slash his way into theaters on February 12, 2016 as the perfect counter-programming to whatever Valentine’s Day rom-com dreck the other studios put out that weekend.
