After the eruption and mass panic that occurred following the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman, many fans stopped to realize the potential that lied in such a decision. Would Affleck be game to direct a solo Batman film down the line? That’s been the eternal question from fans, and like many, I have always felt it was a given that Affleck would direct a Batman film.

Now here we are a couple years later, and we still haven’t had an actual confirmation from WB or Affleck on whether or not that’s going to happen. Though, fans needn’t worry, they aren’t the only ones pushing Affleck toward this film. In a recent interview with Joe.ie, Zack Snyder, director of BATMAN v SUPERMAN, mentioned the following:

“Oh yeah for sure, I think [him directing it] kind of the prerequisite, I think, hopefully, for him doing it…

I keep working on him. Like always says, he’s like a one movie at a time guy, so I don’t really wanna…He’s finishing editing his film, LIVE BY NIGHT, and then he comes to JUSTICE LEAGUE. And then after that I think he’s going to try and develop the story, so we’ll see if he likes that.”

This quote from Snyder does fly in the face of earlier claims from Affleck, who has already stated on more than one occasion that he and Geoff Johns have been working on a script, and other reports that the script for the film has actually been completed. Like with anything related to film, we’ll likely have to wait at least a solid six months before we get to the bottom of this story.
