According to TMZ a Santa Monica man was arrested yesterday morning for burglary after being seen on security footage taking screen-used Star Wars memorabilia from the offices of J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot production company. Frank Hebert, was seen pushing a shopping cart full of Star Wars items he had taken from the business. Items included a screen used Darth Vader helmet, a Stormtrooper helmet, and other items that were used in the films.
I wonder where Hebert planned to unload the items, any serious collector that would pay big money for such items is going to want a certificate of authenticity. Without one I would imagine the value of the items decreases significantly if they were still desired at all. Did he know the potential value of these items, or did he simply see an opportunity and acted on it?

Star Wars memorabilia can bring in big money, especially props that were used in filming. However, having access to individuals willing to shell out large sums of cash for such items isn’t exactly easy. Especially when the items you’re trying to get rid of were not legitimately obtained.
No matter his plans he will not see them through as he was charged with non-residential burglary and taken into custody. Law enforcement says none of the items were damaged and have since been returned. Come on J.J., it sounds like you may need some tighter security. Perhaps you could put two Bad Robot interns in some Stormtrooper gear and post them up outside of your facilities.
