A fun bit of news from a galaxy far, far away, more more accurately the edge of that galaxy. Opening this year at both Disney theme parks will be Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge and one of the main attractions will be Smuggler’s Run. The ride let’s parkgoers step into the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon and head off on an epic adventure.

Fans of Star Wars The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels will be excited to know that the loveable and backstabbing pirate known as Hondo Ohnaka will be the one that sends the Falcon and it’s new crew off on a mission. So you may be wondering why Hondo has access to the Falcon? It’s said that he has persuaded a certain Wookiee, Chewbacca, to let him borrow it do do a bit of smuggling (really, Chewy?), the only thing is he needs a crew, and that’s where we, the parkgoers come into play.

Impressive, most impressive, something truly special (I hope someone caught at least one of those lines). This lifelike version of Hondo will surely help immerse guests inthe experience of the ride. You can see how fluid and smooth Hondo’s movements are at the end of the video. I am a big fan of both Star Wars animated series, so I am more than familiar with Hondo, and am glad to see him get put into the spotlight here on Smuggler’s Run. One of the more memorable new characters from the animated series’, in my book he is only second to the bounty hunter Cad Bane, who seriously needs to be utilized in a live-action setting (The Mandalorian perhaps? A space gunfight? I hope.)

If the ride stays true to Hondo’s character, well, I wouldn’t trust him, not that you’re going to be given much of a choice. He isn’t an evil person, but he always seems to have something up his sleeve, and after all, he is a pirate.
