Has wondering why Disney’s fantastic animated film, Zootopia, is yet to have a sequel led to many sleepless nights for you? Oh, really? Well, that’s kind of weird. Anyway, while I enjoyed the film, the lack of news about a Zootopia sequel news hasn’t kept me up at night, but there may be hope for you folks yet.

Actor Tommy Lister, who is perhaps most widely remembered for playing Deebo in the Friday movies, also lends his voice to the Zootopia character Finnick, revealed there are two sequels in the works during a publicity event. You can check out what Lister had to say below.

“I can tell you for sure I’m doing another Zootopia with Disney. We doing three of them. [There were] three Madagascars. We’re gonna replace that. We’re the biggest film that Disney is producing. The last one was $240 million. This one I’m hearing will be $300 million. That’s what they spent on the budget, not the advertising. But the movie made $2.6 billion, with merchandising and the box office.”

While those figures seem a bit high, with the original film pulling in over a billion dollars, it wouldn’t surprise me to see Disney put up big money for a sequel. Besides the box-office, with its cute furry characters, Zootopia has excellent merchandising potential and is likely to become another Disney cash machine.
