Universal Pictures is lining up the project for “The Raid: Redemption” director Gary Evans.

According to Deadline, the studio acquired the adapted screenplay written by Kerry Williamson about Lee “Lightning” Murray, an ex-MMA fighter who masterminded the largest cash heist in the history of England in 2006. The drama is based on Howard Sounes’ book “Heist: The True Story of the World’s Biggest Cash Robbery,” and Sports Illustrated article “Breaking The Bank” by L. Jon Wertheim.

The project was originally developed for director Darren Aronofsky, but he dropped out due the biblical movie “Noah.”

Gareth’s big directorial debut was with the Indonesian film “The Raid: Redemption,” which is now being released by Sony Classics. He also directed films “Merantau” and “Footsteps.”
