Veteran actor Neal McDonough is in talks with Lionsgate-Summit Entertainment to join the cast of “Red 2.”

McDonough has a long acting resume including roles in “Minority Report,” “Star Trek: First Contact” and “Flags of Our Fathers.” He was seen as Timothy ‘Dum Dum’ Dugan in last year’s “Captain America: The First Avenger” and Robert Quarles in the television show “Justified.”

If he signs on, then he will join with the returning cast members of Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich in the sequel. Other cast members already on board included Catherine Zeta-Jones, Anthony Hopkins and Byung-hun Lee.

“Galaxy Quest” Dean Parisot is set to direct.

“Red 2” is currently in pre-production and is scheduled for release on August 2nd next year.
