Sad news for all ’90s kids and Riverdale fans today. Luke Perry has died.
The actor who made a name for himself as bad boy Dylan McKay on the hit series Beverly Hills, 90210, passed away Monday after suffering from a massive stroke over the weekend. He was only 52 years old. The following is a statement released by the Perry family, as per Deadline:
“He was surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiancé Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends. The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning. No further details will be released at this time.”

Perry had a brief stint on the soap opera Another World before landing the McKay role. Perry is also famously known for his role as Pike in the Joss Whedon-written film Buffy, The Vampire Slayer while on the series. Perry went on to star in projects like 8 Seconds, The Fifth Element and HBO’s Oz. He was a recently a cast member of the CW series Riverdale and had completed work on the upcoming Quentin Tarantino film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt.
