Okay, folks, I have some good news and some so-so news. Both pieces come from the world of Paramount. Let’s go ahead and start with the bad. According to a spokesperson from the studio, Top Gun: Maverick has been pushed back just shy of a year from July 12, 2019 to June 26, 2020.

I know what you’re thinking. “Jammer, I didn’t even care about that Top Gun sequel, so why would I care if it’s delayed.” Frankly, I don’t either, but I’m sure there are plenty of people who do, so cool your jets. If you were here for the A Quiet Place news, hang tight.

Anyway, the spokesperson, according to Variety, said the extra year “will give the filmmakers the opportunity to work out logistics of presenting the flight sequences with new technology and planes.” The sequel will cover a world where the era of dogfighting is ending, and we’re now living in a world of drones.

Now onto the promised A Quiet Place news.

The studio also announced that the sequel to this year’s surprise horror hit will arrive in theaters on May 15, 2020. This means that it will be hitting roughly two years after the first film hit. Admittedly, this has me a bit concerned, as I worry they’ll greenlight the sequel before the script is where it needs to be.
