We’re almost at the end. Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events has already had two amazing seasons hit the streaming service, faithfully adapting the deliciously dark tale of three orphans simply trying to get a break against the villainous Count Olaf, who is out to steal their family’s fortune.
The first season consisted of eight episodes that covered four books (with two episodes each covering a single book), and this pattern continued with Season 2, which covered the next five books over the course of its 10 episodes. For this final season, we’ll be getting eight more episodes, which will cover the last four books of the series, finally bringing this woefully dreadful tale to an end on January 1.

The teaser for the upcoming season shows off both Count Olaf and Lemony Snicket giving us a quick rundown of all the escapades the Baudelaire children have gone through since the first episode, highlighting that with this third season, we will be careening towards the inevitable conclusion. As someone who hasn’t really read the books, I can only hope this show surprises me and gives these poor kids the happy ending they deserve.
