A Simpsons Renewal For Seasons 31 and 32 Reportedly Close To Being Completed

Now that the House of Mouse has collected another prize in its game of studio pokémon, with the acquisition of most of Fox, it won’t be long before major moves are made regarding the obtained properties. One of the bigger questions many are asking is what is the future of The Simpsons? It should be noted that both Disney and Fox declined to comment on the matter.

According to Variety (and their sources, who are said to be in the know on the matter) a deal to renew The Simpsons for seasons 31 and 32 is nearly finished. Another issue is syndication. The deals to license The Simpsons were made long ago in a time when streaming wasn’t even considered. Sources tell Variety this has kept Fox from receiving full value on the show, and this is something that will likely be addressed and changed at some point in the near future.

Just like Tom Brady, at some point, The Simpsons has to call it quits. Many fans have felt the show hasn’t been good for almost 20 years, except for the occasional episode here and there. I grew up with The Simpsons, it was Family Guy for people my age, satirical, irreverent, and a show a lot of parents didn’t want their children watching, which only made us want to watch it more.

The show, which started out as a showcase of how much of a brat Bart was, really hit its stride when the focus turned to near immeasurable stupidity of Simpson family patriarch, Homer. Without The Simpsons opening doors, we may never have received shows such as South Park, or Family Guy, back in the early days the family from Springfield did their part to push the television envelope.
