Amazon’s ‘Lord Of The Rings’ Television Series Casts It’s Villain

One of the most anticipated series coming to Amazon Prime Video is the Lord of the Rings television series that is based of the of iconic fantasy novels by J.R.R. Tolkien. The series is supposed to be set in Middle Earth’s second Age, before the events of The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King. Every great story needs a good villain and in the cast of the Lord of the Rings series, it looks like they may have found him.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Game of Thrones alumni Joseph Mawle has joined the cast of the scripted fantasy drama. The reports claims that he will be playing a villain named Oren. He joins the cast that already includes Will Poulter and Austrailian actress Markella Kavenagh.

The television series will feature J.A. Bayona, director of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, helming the first two episodes. He will also serve as executive producer along with his producing partner Belen Atienza. Also serving as executive producers are writers Gennifer Hutchinson, Jason Cahill and Justin Doble, along with Lindsey Weber, Bruce Richmond, Gene Kelly and Sharon Tal Yguado.

It will be interesting to see this cast fill up as it is looking to start production in 2020. This is going to be a huge project for Amazon Prime Video as it’s rumored that once all the the costs are factored in, the Lord of the Rings series could reach as high as one billion dollars. We know that each and every streaming service is fighting for a place in people’s budget, although the convenience of free shipping makes it a lot easier to keep subscribers, a series based off the Lord of the Rings is without a doubt a good way to bring in a crowd.
