Anonymous Internet Troll Creates “Defeminized” Edit Of Avengers: Endgame So They Can Sleep Better In Their Mom’s Basement

An anonymous internet “fan” has created an alternate version of Avengers: Endgame, and their version is lacking in a few characters and moments. Earning the title of the “defeminized” cut, the anonymous “editor” seems to be fueled by their distaste for any moments featuring female heroes or heroes of color.

According to a report by NPR, the anonymous “filmmaker” removed the scene of Hawkeye teaching his daughter how to shoot a bow and arrow because “young women should learn skills to become good wives and mothers and leave the fighting to men.” The Black Panther is removed because “he’s really not that important.” Spider-Man is no longer rescued by women because they state there is “no need to” and the males in the film no longer hug. These comments were provided by a document that anonymous attached to the pirated copy of the film.

One can literally smell the ignorance and easily threatened small ego that radiates from this individual.

Sadly, this is not new. In 2017, another exemplary member of society (sarcasm) created an edit of Star Wars: The Last Jedi that eliminated scenes featuring female characters making decisions, giving orders, and fighting in battle. Suzanne Scott, a professor of film and media studies at the University of Texas, told NPR that these “homemade edits” are part of a trend. “It is borderline incomprehensible,” she says. “It has cut out a lot of story that you need to make the whole narrative cohesive. So what’s on the screen plays like an avant-garde film.”

Scott went on to explain what fuels these chauvinist cuts of inclusive films:

“I think what we’ve seen, as fan culture and geek culture moves from the margins to the mainstream, is that a particular set — and I should note, a small percentage — of predominantly white straight male fans feel like their culture that they had ownership and claim over for many, many generations is sort of slipping away from them, as that culture gets bigger and inevitably more diverse.”

To that small percentage defined above: you do not own these characters and their stories. Marvel, DC, Image, Lucasfilm, Disney, and all the content creators and artists made these characters for the masses. Inclusivity is a good thing. Your stance of making all heroes white males and placing people of color and women in tertiary, less-important roles is sexist, bigoted, arrogant, and contrary to everything people like Stan Lee stood for. Maybe you need a reminder of what “Stan the Man” once said:

“Bigotry and racism are among the deadliest social ills plaguing the world today. But, unlike a team of costumed super-villains, they can’t be halted with a punch in the snoot, or a zap from a ray gun. The only way to destroy them is to expose them — to reveal them for the insidious evils they really are. The bigot is an unreasoning hater — one who hates blindly, fanatically, indiscriminately… Sooner or later, if man is ever to be worthy of his destiny, we must fill our hearts with tolerance.”

In other words, attempt to recognize that inclusivity is a good thing instead of continuing to be the petulant little child locked away in their mother’s basement.
