Ant-Man And The Wasp Director Peyton Reed Reiterates Desire To Helm Fantastic Four Movie

Marvel fans everywhere want to see the merger between Fox and Disney go through for, lets face it, purely selfish reasons. We want to see the likes of X-Men and the Fantastic Four make their appearance in the ever expanding and consistently high quality Marvel Cinematic Universe.

We recently reported that Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed recently said he’d love to direct the Fantastic Four if and when Marvel get their hands on the IP. Now he has reiterated this desire when speaking with Forbes recently.

“I’ve done comedies, I developed a version of Fantastic Four back in 2003 and so these are the kinds of movies I grew up on, have loved and always wanted to make.”

Reed also went on to say more when asked about Fantastic Four specifically.

“I have been asked about that because of this pending potential merger of Disney and Fox and my previous involvement with Fantastic Four. I stand by the fact that the Fantastic Four, the comics, are the crown jewels kind of thing and that I think there is still an amazing, unbelievably great Fantastic Four movie to be made. Beyond that, there have been no specific conversations about it. That merger is not even a done deal but it’s absolutely something that would be interesting particularly now because I think it’s like an insane challenge at this point. Also, I think thematically the Ant-Man movies deal with a lot of the same things that Fantastic Four does.”

Reed is certainly pinning his sail to the mast of Fantastic Four and if Ant-Man and the Wasp does as well as the box office predictions expect, then who knows. However, first thing’s first, we need to have Fox agree to the mega-money merger before Marvel can even start planning to sue these characters in the MCU.

After you watch Ant-Man and the Wasp, let us know in the usual place what you think of Peyton Reed getting the Fantastic Four gig further down the line?
