Ant-Man And The Wasp Overseas Release Date Postponed Due To World Cup

While it’s not unusual for a studio to move a film’s release date around, the situation is usually caused by another film. However, that isn’t the case for Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp. The World Cup is the culprit in this instance, which is going to cause the film to be released a month later overseas, where soccer is much more popular. Evangeline Lilly, who plays the Wasp, recently spoke with Empire Magazine and expressed her displeasure in the film’s release being moved around.

“They always do that. Then what happens is people just pirate the movie and they see it in the worst way possible, like some shitty version online, instead of going to a theater. They go in the end, but I don’t like that staggering. I’m really going to get to the bottom of this for you. I’m as pissed off about it as you are.”

While soccer does have a following here in the United States, the fans overseas are far more passionate, and this is probably a good move from a financial outlook. Here in the states, we don’t ever really have this problem, at least not with films, though television shows are at times moved and scheduled around sporting events.
