Anthony Russo On Endgame Beating Avatar And That One More Cap Story

No surprises for guessing which film mopped up most of the awards at last night’s MTV Awards. Yes, it was Avengers: Endgame and it took home best picture, which to be fair is common for the biggest box office film of the year, never mind the second biggest film of all time, currently.

After the awards MTV News caught up with Endgame co-director Anthony Russo and asked him what it would mean to have Endgame finally beat Avatar to top spot. You can catch the interview below.

The director I would say tried to deflect the question as being unimportant compared to how audiences reacted to the movie. On this, I’ll agree, as realistically you can only point to one outcome with Avengers: Endgame and that’s a roaring success, whether it beats Avatar or not. However, I am sure he won’t knock it if it happens.

The interviewer then asked Anthony about something his brother Joe said about doing “one more Cap story”. Whilst once again Anthony tried to skillfully avoid the question, you sorta feel like his body language tells you that they really are having thoughts about directing a final Captain America story. Whether this would ever come to fruition remains to be seen, and you’d think they’d make sure writers Markus and McFeely were on board before pitching it.

I think we’d all like to see the Russos, along with Markus and McFeely tackle another Captain America movie, who wouldn’t? However, would this be a story about Steve Rogers or a story about Sam Wilson? Who knows, and either way you can already put me down for an opening weekend if they do make another Marvel movie. Secretly, I’d prefer an old man Cap movie set in an alternate universe though… Just saying.
