Archer’s Last Season Is Reverting Back To Normal But Does It Matter? | Fine Toon

As you have read here on LRM I am a fan of the Archer series but have become strained with the long running show for a dip in quality that has been well observed by both critics and fans alike. Archer was supposed to end on season 10 but that was recently extended for another season with the announcement coming from San Diego Comic Con last week. What gives fans hope is that it is revealed that the show will go back to the bread and butter spy-fi genre because that’s how you get ants disenfranchised viewers to come back into the fold. But does it actually matter at this point? I want to say yes but after a 3 year spiral down the rabbit hole of Archer’s subconscious the series is starting to get more filler than Naruto which is saying something. The animation and graphics have kept up to par but the writing has gotten stale and the jokes just don’t land like they used to which is unfortunate for all parties.  Archer:1999 had some promise but devolved into a quagmire of disappointment while other shows are taking over the void left behind in the show’s shadow.

Archer wakes up in the final episode of Archer:1999 to find his mother Mallory by his side after a fiery space explosion where no one can here you yell, ’cause space. While it is nice to get some sense of normalcy the show is what it is at this point being a shell of it’s former self. The talent is definitely there with the actors and staff being talented enough to pull the show out of the nose dive it has recently taken but I have no confidence that the ship will actually be corrected. With the return of the spy-fi genre it is likely that this will be the last season of the show though that was said of season 10 and we’re heading into the season 11 so who knows. There is likely a more concrete plan of how to wrap up the series as opposed to the acid trip seasons we’ve been watching in the last few seasons.

Am I being too much of a cynic or will going back to the basics rejuvenate the show? Let us know your thoughts.
