ARROW OLIVER QUEEN’S DOSSIER Review

Arrow – Oliver Queen’s Dossier collates the intelligence Oliver Queen has uncovered on nefarious business dealings and criminal activity in Starling City, with “top secret” records on his alter-ego Arrow since his return from Lian Yu. Includes hard copy duplicates of confidential government and business documents acquired by Oliver and Felicity Smoak, top secret schematics for Arrow’s weaponry, and Queen family records.

Initial Reaction– For those of you that grew up in the 80’s like me and were avid gamers this book might look a little familiar to you.  As a gamer before the internet or playing guides were published you had to create your own players guide.  As a kid I would have spiral notebooks of all the game codes, hidden objects, maps, cut-outs from Nintendo Power and other magazines for every game I played.  “Oliver Queen’s Dossier” reminded me of just that, a scrapbook of all the different Intel and strategies Oliver Queen has pick up over the years as the Green Arrow.

The books visuals are amazing from the cover as well as inside.  Once you pick up and open this Dossier you realize that it is not the normal book that you could pick up and read.  The Dossier is broken into ten different sections dealing with all of the events that take place on the show.  The interior is composed of newspaper clips, sticky notes, letters, official documents, and pieces of evidence that Oliver has collected over the years.  Throughout the book if you are observant you will notice a couple of different easter eggs that link to a bigger universe.

The amount of detail of this book is amazing.  The Dossier breaks down all of Oliver’s villains into sub-categories as well as gives you details for all of his different arrow combinations. Any fan of Arrow could spend hours breaking down all the information from this book and then re-watch the show on Netflix with a better understanding of some scenes.

The book ends abruptly but I believed that is on purpose.  Since the show is still going on this felt like there was more to come later.  I believe with some success Titan Books along with Nick Aires will go and publish an add-on Dossier.

Overall: This book was designed for a specific audience and that is okay.  Die-hard fans of Arrow will absolutely love this book as it encapsulates the shows plot of one man’s mission to protect his city.  Fans of Green Arrow will spend plenty of time picking apart all the different details and easter eggs throughout the book.  For casual fans of Arrow or just of comics this might be a difficult read because the layout is so intimidating.  This would be a great holiday gift for a fan of Arrow or someone who just started watching the show.
