Avengers 4: Frank Grillo Confirms Crossbones’ Return

For some reason, Frank Grillo always seems to be a wealth of information. The actor portrayed Brock Rumlow in Captain America: The Winter Soldier who went on to become the villain Crossbones in Captain America: Civil War. The character met a violent demise when he blew himself up while attempting to take out Captain America with him, but was foiled by Scarlet Witch. Still, his death seemed pretty damn definitive.

In spite of this, rumors over the past year or so have surfaced of the character making a return in some form. Based on what we know, Avengers 4 could very well be a time travel piece, so it’s not entirely out of the question, even if it is weird. Well, when speaking with UFC Unfiltered, of all places, Grillo went on to confirm the return of the character in Avengers 4.

“He makes an appearance in the next Avengers movie, but it’s a flashback.”

Unfortunately, he doesn’t confirm the time travel elements, but only states “flashback,” which is a much more vague term than we’d hope. That being said, there’s a good chance that, as an actor, Grillo only knows his scenes of the film, and nothing more, so he may not even know the context.

Personally, I’m glad to see Crossbones return. I thought his fight with Cap in Civil War was next-level stuff and was disappointed to see him get taken out so quickly. Even if it’s just for a few minutes, it’s nice to know we’ll get to see him one last time.
