Avengers 4: Hawkeye Is Ready For Action Says Jeremy Renner

One of the surprising details around Avengers: Infinity War was the fairly shocking lack of Hawkeye aka Jeremy Renner in the movie. Given that he seemed to be involved right up until the movie was released, many fans were a little upset that Hawkeye was completely sidelined in the movie and only referenced one time. First of all, I have to say, I wasn’t one of them.

I have nothing against Renner or the character of Hawkeye, but to me, he is a secondary character, both in the movies and the comics, Hawkeye’s only ability is that he can shoot an arrow real well from a bow. Now in a team-up movie with Marvel’s strongest and best warriors all coming together to stop the ultimate threat, I am not sure what difference Hawkeye would have made to the overall movie. What was Hawkeye going to do against Thanos, shoot an arrow at his head? Unless that arrow is made of Adamantium or Vibranium or even Unobtainium (he!), then it’s not even going to scratch Thanos’ face.

What sounds far more compelling to me, is that Hawkeye shows up in Avengers 4. For one reason, so that it shows how desperate the heroes are, having lost so many of their own and secondly it would give him a reason to want to kill Thanos if the infamous ‘snap’ somehow had an effect on his own family. Avengers 4 is about that original Avengers group coming together for one last battle to bring all the new guys back again, this is the right movie for Hawkeye to have a part in.

Some fans were unduly worried that Renner wouldn’t be back in the saddle for Avengers 4 either (don’t ask me why?), but of course, we know he was seen during the filming that ran back to back with Infinity War. With reshoots underway for the as yet untitled Avengers 4, Renner has taken to Instagram to reveal he is ready to get back in the game for Marvel.

So who is pumped for Hawkeye in Avengers 4, and who agrees with me that there was no place for the latter-day Robin Hood in Infinity War? Shoot me your arrows of disagreement in the usual place below.
