In a cruel turn of events, Avengers: Endgame was not the end. Is now the time for a director’s cut? Avengers: Endgame shattered all kinds of records. Maybe Disney wants to make a little more money. The easiest way would be to make an overhyped four-hour long mini-series with all the stuff the studio messed up in the first place. Slap a not so fancy title on this version like Avengers The Russo’s Endgame! In this super special director’s cut, we get to witness missing events not shown by the time the credits rolled on Avengers: Endgame. OH WAIT – I am mixing up my cinematic universes.
What is going on?
Recently, the Russo brothers sat down with the Lights, Camera, Barstool Podcast to promote their new movie Cherry. Most interviews with the brothers inevitably lead to questions about Marvel. This one was no different. Around the 47:20 mark of the podcast, the Russo brothers expand on the idea of a character or moment they have not previously shared with people but really wanted to get in Avengers: Endgame. Their response informs us there were a lot of pre visuals made for action scenes. Undoubtedly, many ideas never made it into the film. At one point, the Russo’s cut themselves short by saying it was hard to answer.
“The stuff that we love most and most passionate about, there is still a chance it might show up someday.”
Are they saying something else entirely?
As the conversation goes on, it sounds like they are to keep quiet about Avengers: Endgame deleted scenes. They discuss how, when talking with the press, they write out how to speak about particular topics or even how to state certain things. Nobody wants to slip up and reveal something, hence the extra steps. They joke about it almost being like a CIA level coverup. All jokes aside, Disney wants to bank as much money off the franchise as possible. Make of this what you will, but at some point a new cut of Avengers: Endgame will happen.
Would you go back to the theater (post COVID) and watch Avengers: Endgame with extra footage? What type of extra scenes would you like to see?
