“Imagine if, for the first time, our heroes all lost,” Robert Downey Jr. says to the camera in the very first featurette for the upcoming film, Avengers: Endgame. Well, the joke’s on you, Downey, because we don’t have to imagine that. We lived it. We all sat in the movie theaters last year and witnessed Thanos give that snap heard ’round the universe that led to countless heroes turning into heaps of dust. It was both beautiful and awful at the same time.

Now, Avengers: Endgame will see these heroes pick up the pieces (or the dust) left by the Mad Titan. In the featurette, we see Downey, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, and Kevin Feige all discuss that unexpected ending in Avengers: Infinity War and what it means to Avengers in this upcoming film. Spoiler alert — it means a hell of a lot to these guys.

“They’ve truly leveled us, not just literally, but morally and emotionally,” Chris Evans said in the video.

“The fans’ reaction to the end of Infinity War when half of their favorite characters turned to dust is really indicative of how emotionally connected the world has gotten to these characters,” Feige said.

All in all, this is a nice little featurette that is meant to get us hyped, but if you’re hoping to see more footage from the movie, then you’ll be sorely disappointed. In fact, I personally think we’ll get about one more minute of footage in another mini-trailer at some point, but if we do, that’ll be it. I think Marvel Studios will stick to their guns when it comes to only showing a certain amount of footage, so as not to spoil anything.
