Avengers: Infinity War Just Opened To Huge Numbers In China

Avengers: Infinity War made a billion dollars worldwide in record time. And this was before the film’s release in China, one of the biggest markets in the world for Hollywood films. A market that has grown so large, that the only reason we are still seeing Transformers and Fast & Furious films is because China loves that shit.

Variety reports that by 10 p.m. Friday in China, Infinity War already earned $66 million on its first full day of release. This was on top of the $9.3 million the film made during previews Thursday night. This brings the estimated opening total close to $76 million.

Avengers: Age of Ultron currently carries the title of highest full opening-weekend score for Marvel with $156 million, the fourth highest opening score of any film opened in China. Monster Hunt 2 holds the record at number one, with a $187 million start.

As of Wednesday, Infinity War has grossed $1.251 billion, with $479 million made in the US and $772 million in international markets. This cements the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the biggest movie franchise ever in China, with a combined gross of $1.12 billion.
