Okay, that title may be total hyperbole, but the new trailer just dropped for writer-director Drew Goddard’s latest film, and it looks to be one hell of a good time in theater, despite its title. The film in question is Bad Times at the El Royale, and it’s a sort of self-contained tale of betrayal and paranoia that looks to be in the vein of films like The Thing and Hateful Eight.
More than anything, it looks to be a movie that takes full advantage of the medium of film in a very Tarantino-esque and Edgar Wright-esque way. Every shot looks expertly lit and framed, adding to the increasing tension that builds in this hotel full of deplorables. Perhaps most excitingly, this film is coming from the guy who is set to take on X-Force, and it only amplifies my expectations for that.
