Balance Must Be Restored In Netflix’s She-Ra Reboot Teaser

Late last year, it was revealed that She-Ra would be returning to pop culture in the form of a Netflix original series from Dreamworks. Then, this past July, the actual look of the upcoming series was receiving quite a sizable makeover, with a look that would appeal to younger audiences (i.e. she would be given a look that would likely better appeal to young girls). This new look was met with a bit of controversy within the animation community, who argued that it was too much of a change from the original series.

The series is set to hit the streaming service this coming November, and in an effort to get audiences pumped for its release, they’ve released a new teaser. In it, we see some shots along a magical sword. Projected onto the sword are shots from the show itself showing Adora grabbing the sword for the first time, along with some ominous voice-over from a mysterious voice and Adora herself.

As soon as she touches the sword, we are transported away to a Sailor Moon-like transformation sequence as she yells out “For the honor of Grayskull!”

While I do appreciate the overall look, I do wonder if the animation will end up looking a bit stiff and awkward, when all said and done. Regardless of how it looks, though, I certainly hope it’ll at least be an engaging experience, both for old and new fans alike.
