Batwoman Adds Rachel Skarsten As A Villain

This past December during The CW’s Arrowverse crossover event that took place on The Flash, Arrow and Supergirl, we saw the debut of Ruby Rose’s Kate Kate aka Batwoman. Now a pilot for her own series is being developed from Greg Berlanti’s Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros Television.

Today Deadline has given us some information on who she will be going up against. Rachel Skarsten has been cast as the villain Alice, who Deadline has described as if Batwoman had a Joker, it would be her. She is the leader of her Lewis Carroll inspired Wonderland Gang. She is also described as unpredictable between maniacal and charming looking to undermine Gotham’s sense of security.

In comics, Alice is actually Kate Kane’s long lost twin sister Elizabeth, who believes that she is Alice from Carroll’s famous story. She made her first appearance in DC’s Detective Comics #854 in June of 2009, by Greg Rucka and J.H. Williams III.

This is not the first time that Skarksten ventures into a DC television show as she appeared as Black Canary in the Birds of Prey series back in 1992. She recently was seen in Bravo’s Imposters and on Syfy’s Lost Girl. She joins the cast that already includes Rose, Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson and Nicole Kang. The pilot will be directed by David Nutter, which was written by Caroline Dries. Currently there is no premiere date.
