Beauty & The Beast Killing It In Presale Tickets

The very second Disney announced that they were working on a Beauty and the Beast remake, it was clear they’d be making a whole lotta loot at the box office. While many other animated-to-live-action announcements were met with eyerolls and criticism, there was something that felt very right for this one. Plus, casting Emma Watson in the lead role as Belle seemed like a match made in heaven.

Is this a film that will manage to actually live up to the promise of the original? While that remains to be seen, there seemed to be no debate that this one would make money. Instead, the debate seemed to surround how many dump trucks full of money would this make for the House of Mouse?

We have our first indication. According to Deadline, Beauty and the Beast is beating pre-sales numbers for last year’s Captain America: Civil War and Finding Dory. While they didn’t give out specific pre-sales numbers, we can look at these two and extrapolate Beauty and the Beast’s potential.

Civil War opened up with a ridiculous $179 million opening before going on to make $408 million domestically and over $1.1 billion worldwide. Finding Dory opened with a softer $135 million, but it still managed to rake in $486 million domestically and $1 billion worldwide. In short, Beauty and the Beast is finding itself it pretty darn good company when it comes to these box office numbers, and now some are speculating the flick to break $150 million in its opening. If these other two movies are any indication, Beast may even be able to break $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

In addition to these strong pre-sales figures, it also helps that the movie is sitting pretty at the low-seventies on Rotten Tomatoes. Its reception hasn’t been off-the-charts, but it’s well within acceptable range for most audiences. Plus, based on those reviews (even the negative ones), it sounds as though the film largely manages to deliver on its promises, even if it’s not perfect in doing so.
