Ben Affleck’s The Batman Would Have Seen The Dark Knight Venture Inside Arkham Asylum

It’s been a quite a while since Ben Affleck was set to write, direct and star in The Batman. The duty of wearing three hats of asuch a huge project eventually turned out to be too much for the actor and he stepped away from the project all together. Enter Matt Reeves (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), who has now experienced several delays on the film since he took over.

Robert Richardson who was to be the cinematographer on Ben Affleck’s The Batman recently spoke on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast and taked about where that film would have headed, and that place appears to have abeen a journey inside Arkham Asylum. You can check out what he had to say below.

“I wanted to shoot Batman with Ben [Affleck] cause that was the next film we had. There was a script, but not a loved script. There was a lot of work he was doing to it to change it. He was going into the more insanity aspects… He was entering more into the Arkham, he’s going into where everyone was bad.”

I like this idea, and do think if Affleck could have found a way to stick it out, his version of The Batman would have taken the character to places, both mental and physical that fans hadn’t seen featured on screen before. Hopefully, as time goes on more will be revealed about Affleck’s version of the story, and also, as time goes on, let’s hope Matt Reeves version finally makes it to the screen.
