Big Bang Theory Co-Stars Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik Team For New Show On Fox

With CBS‘s long-running series, The Big Bang Theory coming to a conclusion last May, the show’s cast members will likely be looking for their next job, and it appears two of them have already found it. Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik have joined  together to bring a new comedy that will star Bialik, and will have both her and Parsons executive producing.

The show was reportedly wanted by the major broadcast networks, but ultimately, Fox prevailed. Carla, is based on the BBC series Miranda, which starred comedian Miranda Hart, and follows a woman who sets out to prove you can’t have it all, and be happy.

Michael Thorn, Fox Entertainment President:

“In pursuing a hand-crafted approach to our scripted development, Charlie and I knew Carla, written by Darlene Hunt, was a project with great potential that could become the centerpiece of our comedy slate – and Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik coming to Fox Entertainment is obviously an enormous part of that equation. Carla is an unapologetically big, broad multi-cam with a strong female point-of-view, pushing the format in a way that will be distinctive.”

I actually used to watch Miranda, hilarious at times if you’re into British humor. I came across it while on a big British TV kick I was on years ago. Depending on how much the use the original show’s influence, I think Mayim Bialik will do well in this role.

Carla has received a series order and will air in the fall of 2020 on Fox.
