Zombieland became a cult hit when it first released, and it seemed as the years rolled by there wouldn’t ever be a sequel. It almost became a TV show with a different cast and written again by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese but it never made it past the pilot process. Now finally around a decade later Zombieland 2 is moving ahead with the original cast and original director Ruben Fleischer.

The sequel is set to release currently in October of next year and now we have learned from Geeks WorldWide that the movie is set to have two surprise cast additions. Apparently Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd are set to appear in the movie in cameo roles. It’s especially surprising with Bill Murray, because he appeared as a fictional version of himself in the first movie and was killed (far as we could tell) in that film.
One would assume he will come back as one of the super unkillable zombies reportedly featured in Zombieland 2 and this time he will have his old Ghostbusters colleague Dan Ackroyd joining him. The pair have not worked together on a project since Ghostbusters 2 in 1989. Whatever scenario has the cast once again running into Murray with Ackroyd in tow this time sounds like good fun.
Dan Aykroyd has himself once again started rumors around a Ghostbusters 3 with himself, Murray and Hudson after Harold Ramis passing a few years ago. But these rumors have been going nowhere for years, so Zombieland 2 may well be the last place you see Murray and Aykroyd on screen together?
