Black Adam: Dwayne Johnson’s Standalone DC Film Eyeing To Shoot Next Year

I had the privilege of attending the Hall H panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con — it was one of four or five of them I had a chance to go to while there — and coming off of that, it was easy to be optimistic about the future of the DCEU. Between Aquaman, Wonder Woman, and Shazam!, it was clear that, in spite of Justice League kind of floundering in theaters, that Warner Bros. was going to keep things going — catering to what audiences want along the way.

While the footage wasn’t exactly flawless, they certainly knew how to put on a show, and the overall enthusiasm for this world was palpable in the warehouse-sized building. But would it be enough to actually propel things forward? It looks like Warner Bros. isn’t slowing down.

We’ve known for a while that a Black Adam film was on the way, and now, thanks to a rumor from The GWW, we now have an idea of when the studio hopes to get the film in front of cameras. A new report from the outlet states that Black Adam is currently eyeing a Fall 2019 production start.

The reason for such a delay? Surprise, surprise. Star Dwayne Johnson’s schedule is packed with such films as Jungle Cruise, Hobbs and Shaw, Jumanji, and Red Notice. I guess he’s kinda busy, right? Plus, with Birds of Prey looking to begin shooting in January, the pattern of having two films shoot in the same calendar year holds up.

There is currently no word on whether or not Black Adam will show up in any other DC film leading up to his standalone film, but the studio going forward with this does seem to imply they’re happy with all they’ve seen of projects like Aquaman and Shazam! so far.

What do you think of this potential production timetable? Let us know down below!
