The fall TV season is drawing to a close as the holidays approach. While this is sad news for TV fans, it does bring the promise of new shows in the spring.

One such show is Black Lightning, the latest superhero offering from Arrowverse creator Greg Berlanti. This DC superhero is joining the ranks of countless others that already call The CW home. However, for the time being, it looks like Black Lightning will be playing inside his on sandbox.

The CW has released a brand new trailer for the series. In it, we catch glimpses of the hero Black Lightning used to be before he retired.

The official synopsis for Black Lightning is below:

“Jefferson Pierce is a man wrestling with a secret. Nine years ago, Pierce was gifted with the superhuman power to harness and control electricity, which he used to keep his hometown streets safe as the masked vigilante Black Lightning. However, after too many nights with his life and his family on the line, he left his Super Hero days behind. Almost a decade later, Pierce’s crime-fighting days are long behind him…or so he thought. But with crime and corruption spreading like wildfire, Black Lightning returns — to save not only his family, but also the soul of his community.”
