Bond 25: It Sounds Like The Studio Is Leaning Toward Using Danny Boyle’s Script

There’s a lot of unknowns surrounding the upcoming Bond 25. Not too long ago, director Danny Boyle stepped down from the project, citing creative differences, though what those creative differences actually were is still up for debate. Eon Productions and MGM are still hard at work looking for a new helmer, but as of right now, things seem to be in limbo.

This is especially true for actor Said Taghmaoui (Wonder Woman), who had apparently signed on to play the lead role in Danny Boyle’s take on the British secret agent.

“I’m supposed to do the next James Bond, playing the lead bad guy,” Taghmaoui told The National. “I was cast by Danny Boyle, and just now he left the project, so of course there’s some uncertainty. We don’t know who the director will be, and the producers don’t know if they’re going to go Russian or Middle East with the baddie right now. I literally just received a message saying: ‘If they go Middle East, it’s you. If they go Russian, it’s someone else.’ It’s the story of my life. Always on that line between something that could change my life and something that disappears.”

This is a very interesting revelation to me for one reason: the script.

Last we heard, Boyle brought on his own guy to create a whole new screenplay after the studios had spent months writing a different one. In his departure, it seemed like the studio was starting from square one. Now, based on Taghmaoui’s comments, it sounds like they’re intending to move forward with Boyle’s script — though the nationality of their lead villain is still a big fat question mark.

For all we know, this could change if another director comes on board and wants to give the script their own thumbprint.

What do you think of Taghmaoui’s comments? Does it sound to you like they intend to go forward with Boyle’s script, or is there too much in the air for us to tell? Sound off down below!
